PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make discriminable the authentication of a printed matter by differentiating the charged column of a friction member and that of ink from each other. SOLUTION: A printed matter 3 obtained by printing to a paper with ink 4 is carried by a carrying means. Further, a probe consisting of a friction member 1 and an electrostatic sensor 2 is provided along a carrying path. A carrying means carries the printed matter 3 in a state where the ink 4 on the paper may come just under the member 1 of a probe and the ink 4 is in slight contact with the member 1 of the probe. Thus, charged voltage is generated by friction at both of the member 1 and the ink 4 and measured by the sensor 2. Then, in the member 1, a charged column is made higher than the ink 4 of a recessed plate to be used. A discrimination circuit is connected to this sensor 2 to compare and collate the polarity, the voltage value or the waveform of charged voltage with polarity data, voltage value data or waveform pattern data to be reference, which are fixed in advance.
