PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device using a frontlight system which ensures display picture more distinctly visible than with the conventional system by making the projecting and recessing contour of the light guide plate inconspicuous. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal panel 1, a transparent light guide plate 2 which is arranged on the front side of the liquid crystal panel 1 and at least one side of which is formed in a projecting and recessing shape so as to emit the light made incident from a light source 3 to the inside toward the liquid crystal panel 1 and a reflection plate 5 which is arranged on the rear side of the liquid crystal panel 1 and which reflects the light from the light guide plate 2 transmitted through the liquid crystal panel 1 toward the liquid crystal panel 1 and the light guide plate 2. The contours 21a and 21b of the projecting and recessing parts of the light guide plate 2 are positioned between adjacent pixels of the liquid crystal panel 1 when seen from the front side of the light guide plate 2. |
