PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved device for monitoring perfusion of a patient's tissue by arterial blood and for measuring a pulse rate. SOLUTION: In this device, changes in an optical path length are calculated with respect to a large number of digitized samples of a light intensity signal generated by a photodetector 28 receiving light emitted toward the patient's tissue by one or more light-emitting diodes or laser diodes 24, 25. The changes in the optical path length are added over a prescribed time of a half heart cycle or the like to generate a perfusion index. A mean perfusion index value can be generated. When calculating the perfusion index, spectrum component compensation can be utilized to compensate various center wavelengths concerning spectrum components of various emitters.
|
