PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for disposal of sodium nitrate capable of reducing elution of a radioactive nuclide even when a waste is buriedly disposed to contact with groundwater, and capable of reducing volatility of the radioactive nuclide in denitration and vitrification. SOLUTION: The sodium nitrate waste in a storage vessel 1, a reductant in a storage vessel 2, and a vitrifying agent in a storage vessel 3 are supplied to a reaction vessel 4. An inside of the reaction vessel 4 is heated to fuse sodium nitrate, and the sodium nitrate waste and the reductant are mixed by a stirrer 5. Stirring is continued to denitrate substances in the reaction vessel 4 by chemical reaction. A fused mixture in the reaction vessel 4 is heated upto about 600-1200 deg.C at the point of time when the denitration is finished, so as to conduct vitrification. The vitrified mixture is cooled and solidified in the reaction vessel after the vitrification is finished, and converyed out together with the reaction vessel 4 from a solidifying apparatus 15 using a vessel conveying-in device 8.
|
