PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a text editing device displaying text data in an easy-to-read and easy-to-edit form without preserving/managing tab setting separately from a text file and without deleting the part of a format before performing compilation. SOLUTION: The text editing device is provided with a syntax analysis data base where information required for analyzing the structure of the various kinds of descriptions and lists is gathered, a syntax analysis part extracting a text data part useful for the analysis of the tab setting in the text data as a character string for the analysis, a tab setting estimation part virtually supplying the tab setting to the extracted character string for the analysis and estimating original tab setting from the regularity of the array state of a specified character position in the character string for the analysis obtained at the time, a tab conversion part converting the tab of the text data to a blank by using the tab setting estimated in the tab setting estimation part and a display part displaying the text data for which the tab is converted to the blank in the tab conversion part. |
