PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matrix converter applicable both to an alternating- current motor and to a direct-current motor. SOLUTION: Two outputs of an ordinary matrix converter bridge 7 are supplied to an armature of a direct-current motor 55, and a third output is connected with a field winding 57 of the direct-current motor 55, and further connected with the individual phases of an input power line through a plurality of diodes 61 to 63. The diodes 61 to 63 are constituted as a diode kit 66 which is easy to install on an ordinary three-phase to three-phase matrix converter. Thus, a converter for driving a regenerative alternating-current motor is made applicable as a converter for driving a regenerative direct-current motor. If desired, the diode kit 66 can be used to apply the matrix converter 7 to a direct- current motor or an alternating-current motor. |
