<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for fixing a tissue fastener by using a tissue fixing appliance equipped with a shaft of a small cross section. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes the shaft having a distal end and a proximal end and the fastener located within the shaft and includes the steps of preparing a fastener fixing apparatus, such that the fastener is equipped with a pair of bosses and has an open position and a closed position, inserting the distal end of the shaft into a target location within a body of a patient, and fixing the fastener within the body of the patient. The method is provided for locating and fixing a surgical fastener by making the fixing step include a step (i) of advancing the fastener to be proximate to the distal end of the shaft and locating the fastener to come into contact with a tissue and a step (ii) of moving the bosses away from each other so as to close the fastener. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
