PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a herbicidal composition for paddy fields, capable of manifesting effects of synergistic actions, hardly causing the phytotoxicity to paddy rice and capable of killing weeds in a small amount thereof by using a substituted benzoyl cyclic enone derivative of a specific structure in combination with other compounds having herbicidal activities. SOLUTION: This herbicidal composition for paddy fields comprises a substituted benzoyl cyclic enone derivative of the formula A is S(O)n R<1> [R<1> is an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, benzyl, etc.; (n) is 0 or 2] or OR<2> (R<2> is phenyl); B is a halogen, nitro, an alkyl, etc.; D is H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, etc.; E is a halogen, an alkoxy, an alkylthio, etc.} in combination with at least one selected from among simetryn, quinoclamine, dithiopyr, oxadiargyl and bentazon. The compound of the second ingredient in an amount of about 0.01-10 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. compound of the first ingredient of the formula is mixed therewith. 3-(2-Chloro-4-methylsulfonylbenzoyl)-4-phenythio-bicyclo[3,2,1]oct-3-e n-2-one, etc., are cited as the compound of the formula. |
