A method and a test system for disconnecting a load from wires supplying electricity in order to test the integrity of the wires

A test system for testing the state of a buildings electrical wiring for safety purposes, consists of a plurality of disconnect devices (8) attached to at least one load (6 &2), such as a lamp, providing selective removal of the load in response to a disconnect signal for the purpose of high voltage testing of the supply wiring. The test module (10) is arranged to check the necessary load or loads are disconnected before the commencement of a test and allow the reconnection of this load or loads after testing in response to a second signal.
