The device has a case whose front face has a digital versatile disc insertion slot. A DVD reading unit (10) is connected to a central unit (20) equipped with a video output e.g. scart connector (21), to transfer signal towards a television. RFID readers (3, 30) activate opening of the slot and functioning of reading unit, respectively, after reading identification data stored on a RFID transponder placed on the DVD. An independent claim is also included for a method for utilization of a DVD reading device.
