The roof has an aluminum dome (2) with a connecting flange (5). A dome arch (10) has an aluminum core (40) with inner and outer grooves (42, 43) respectively connected with inner and outer grooves (22, 32, 23, 33) of a steel upper section (20) and an aluminum lower section (30) of the arch. The groove (22) is placed between the flange and the groove (42), and has a slot and a boss connected directly with the flange. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle having a roof.
