<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device in which the quantity of emission light can be monitored using a simple arrangement. <P>SOLUTION: The light source device 100 comprises an LED chip 104, having an active layer 123 between a pair of electrodes 121 and 122, and a means for driving the LED chip 104. The LED chip 104 comprises a plurality of elements 100a and 100b, including active layers 123a and 123b divided in-plane, respectively; and the drive means drives a predetermined one 100a of either of these elements 100a and 100b, receives a part of light emitted from the predetermined element 100a and monitors the quantity of charges excited by the other element 100b, and then controls the emission quantity of the predetermined element 100a, based on the quantity of charges thus monitored. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
