In an elevator device, a handrail device (21) is erected on the upper surface of the car along a handrail installation edge (1f) which is one of the edges of the upper surface of the car. Facing members (3a, 11) are provided in the hoistway so as to be adjacent to the car, and when the car is moved to any position along the vertical stroke of the car, the facing members (3a, 11) face a part, in a width direction, of the handrail device (21). The handrail device (21) has: main handrails (22, 23) arranged outside a facing region which is the region of the upper surface of the car facing the facing members (3a, 11); and an entry prevention bar (24) disposed in the facing region. The entry prevention bar (24) is provided at a position farther from the handrail installation edge (1f) than the main handrails (22, 23).
