A directly heated vaporiser, consist of a helical/spiral multi-wire coil, a drip-tray being fitted to the coil base. The effect of the drip-tray is that as the material is first melted, before vapourisation, part of it is held by capillary attraction between the wires, while the remainder is captured by the drip-tray.
