Phosphoramidic dihalides prepn. - by two-stage reaction of amines and phosphorus oxyhalides

Cpds. of formula (I): R1R2NPO(X)2 (where R1 and R2 are (cyclo)aliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic gps., or R2 is H, or NR1R2 is a heterocycle; X is halogen) are prepd. by reacting R1R2NH (II) with PO(X)3 in the presence of =5 wt.% inert org. solvent, based on (II), in a 1st stage at 70 degrees C and in a 2nd stage at >70 degrees C. High yields (e.g. 70-90%) are obtd. (I) are inters for yes, plant-protection agents and flameproofing agents.
