The charging circuit consists of a battery from which current travels via a choke (3), a control valve (6), a second choke (4) to the storage capacitor (1) and back to the battery (2). The positive pole of an electrolytic capacitor (5) is connected between (3,6), and its negative pole between (1,2). A switchable oscillating circuit is thus formed by (1,5,6,4). On the discharge side, one lead goes to two valves (12,13) connected in antiparallel and then to one input terminal (a) of a full-wave rectifier (11); the other lead on the discharge side goes via a choke (8) with a shunt capacitor and resistance to terminal (b) of (11). The output terminals (c,d) of (11) go to the electrode and part being machined (7). A second, switchable oscillating circuit is thus formed on the discharge side by (1,8,7,12,13). The circuit parameters are chosen so that the period of resonant oscillation in the discharge circuit is 3-20 times that in the charging circuit. By this means, a substantially independent control of the pulse parameters (current and voltage amplitude, repetition frequency) can be obtd.
|
