1386755 Feeding webs BRUCKNER TROCKENTECHNIK KG 23 March 1973 [27 April 1972] 14081/73 Heading B8R [Also in Division D1] A device 1 for flattening the edge of a fabric 2, e.g. for uncurling the edges of a knitted fabric at the entrance to a tentering device, comprises at least one rotatably driven contact plate 6 having, in use, part of its periphery in contact with the underside of an edge part of the fabric 2, and a non-rotatable upper member 14 having a planar lower face which, in use, rests on the upperside of the fabric part to co-operate with the plate 6. As shown, the device 1 is located between a spreader roller 4 and a fabric pulley roller 5. Three flat frusto-conical contact plates 6, 6a, 6b are provided and have gripping surfaces formed by teeth inclined to the centre axis 7 of the respective plate. The axes 7 are disposed at an angle to the direction of fabric movement differing from 90 degrees. The plates 6, 6a, 6b are driven by a common drive 9 from a motor 10. The device 1 is mounted on a spindle 12 automatically adjustable to the width of the fabric, a feeler 13 being provided. The member 14, formed as a flat lid, has a smooth surface and is provided with an easily liftable edge. The member 14 presses the fabric loosely against the plates 6, 6a, 6b and protects these plates from accidents. Hinges (15), (15<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 2 (not shown), are provided for the member 14.
