The thick glass plate is used as a workpiece for producing ornamental glass for lamps and it comprises a head portion which is teemed continuously for manual working, and a lower portion with glass feet which are shaped to allow assembly line production, with curved obliquely extending cut surfaces. This allows tolerances to be bridged, and prevents transparency in case of incorrect adhesion. The feet may be broken off the thick glass plate to form a rough decorative surface with conchoidal fractures. The individual lumps of glass may be glued into some kind of matrix for decorative purposes.
