Profile grinding machine with a slide carrying at least one grinding disc where the grinding disc is supported in a carrier which can move with respect to the slide in its direction of movement. This carrier continuously assumes such a position that the effective profile of the grinding disc is in a defined position with respect to the slide. The carrier is fitted to a part device fixed to the slide and on using a grinding disc with arc effective profile is so adjusted that the mid-point of this profile coincides with the swivel axis of the part device.
