Earth, soil or ground contg. organic substances, is stabilised by mixing with a mixt. of cement contg. 0.1-50 wt.% hydraulic gypsum. The mixt. of cement and gypsum is pref. injected into the earth as a suspension fed under pressure through a drill rod and mixed with the earth. The amt. of gypsum in the cement is pref. 20-30 wt.%, consisting of the alpha- or beta-hemihydrate and/or II-water free gypsum. Used e.g. in public works, for the consolidation of foundations or cuttings. Normally, the presence of organic matter including proteins, acids, carbohydrates and fats interferes with the setting of cement-lime mixts. employed to consolidate earth.
