The connector sleeve is used between two heavy current cables, one of which is paper clad and the other has a plastics insulation sheath. It comprises a circular body which tapers inwards towards its ends and having at least one junction socket and an insulation wrapping. The insulation wrapping is formed by insulation bands and by a paper wrapping which are separated from one another by an axially symmetrical insulating element, spaced from the junction socket. The outer surface of the circular body and one of the insulation wrappings are coated with an oil-resistant material. The inner wall of the body is covered by a tube with the space between containing a contact element split at its centre by a water-tight joint.
