<p>The machine for making spirally wound metal tube, has a supply drum (1) from which the metal strip (2) is unwound, mounted on a carriage (3) which can travel on rails (4). The rails form part of an arc of a circle, so that the angle at which the strips is fed towards the winding frame can be varied as required. The strip passes between a set of support rollers in a horizontal frame (8). It then travels between a set of three shaping rollers (6) arranged in a triangle, and surrounded by a circular guide sheet which determines the radius of curvature of the strip as it is wound into a helix. The joins are then welded and the tube can be cut to length by a circular saw (13).</p> |
