1504021 Rotary slotting cutters KENNAMETAL Inc 13 May 1975 [13 May 1974] 20135/75 Heading B3K A rotary slotting cutter comprises a rotary disc-like body 10 having a plurality of circumferentially equally spaced insert receiving pockets 18 formed in each side of the body, the pockets on one side of the body being staggered in relation to the pockets on the other side. Each pocket has front and rear walls 32, 34 and a radially inner wall 36 which co-operate with the sides of an insert 20 seated in the pocket and which extends radially therefrom with a cutting edge 26. The orientation of the walls and base of the pocket may provide the required clearance angles for the insert when in the pocket. The insert 20 is substantially parallelogram in outline with two diagonally situated cutting edges 26, 28 and is secured by a rotatable pin 46 with an eccentric head 48 which engages in a laterally disposed notch 54 in the insert to urge the insert against the trailing wall of the pocket in a clamping action. Rake and clearance angles are provided on the insert. |
