Appts. for contrast staining of panel boards, by profile-forming brushing of the board surface followed by drying and waxing, comprises a board conveyor belt (2) above which one behind the other are two steel drum brushes (4, 5) of which the horizontal axes are offset by 70-75 deg., in the direction of travel of the belt, and symmetrical to each other, vertical-axis rotary profile-forming steel cup brushes (6-8), and a horizontal-axis rotary polishing drum brush (9). The appts. also includes a flow staining zone (10) at the outlet end of the belt, a drying zone, a second board belt above which one behind the other are fibre drum brushes rotating about horizontal transverse axes, a wax feeder, a brush belt moving transversely over horizontal shafts, and a polishing brush with a horizontal axis.
