The device for decorating natural or artificial finger and toe nails consists of a pair of tongs which has a pin on one side for making the hole in the tip of the nail. The pin fits into a hole in the other side of the tongs. One or the other side of the tongs has a second pin (8) which is preferably stressed by a spring (9). The second pin (8) takes the mounting (3) for the jewel and inserts it into the hole (2) in the nail (1). The pin (8) encloses the rims (3', 3") holding the jewel (4) or decoration. The mounting (3) has a circular groove (6) on the side. The mounting has a threaded pin inserted through the hole and held in place by a nut which is further secured by lacquer or a cement.
