The broaching machine (1) has a broaching tools (8) mounted in sections on an endless chain (3) which passes around the chain-wheels (4, 5). The turbine blades (14) are fixed in vices (12, 13) mounted on a turn-table (11). The turbine blade blanks are initially placed in the magazine (17) and then picked up and placed in the jaws of the vice (13) by the loading device (16). The finished blades are unloaded by the device (15). After one side of a blade root has been broached the table (11) rotates through 180 deg. so that the change-over mechanism (18) can remove the blade from the vice (12), rotate it through 180 deg. and replace it so that the opposite surface of the blade root can be broached.
