1412130 Morphinane derivatives BRISTOLMYERS CO 7 Sept 1972 [8 Sept 1971 13 Jan 1972] 10571/75 Divided out of 1412129 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the formula wherein R<SP>3</SP> is H or C 1-6 alkyl, R<SP>5</SP> is H, -CO 2 Et, -COCF 3 , -CO 2 CH 2 C 6 H 5 , in which R<SP>4</SP> is H or CH 3 , may be obtained by treating a compound of the formula in which R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>10</SP> are C 1-6 alkyl with a dehydrating agent to give a compound of formula and hydrolysing this compound by treatment with an alkali metal hydroxide in a high boiling C 6-12 alkanol at reflux temperature and optionally introducing a group R<SP>5</SP> (other than H), e.g. by reacting with trifluoroacetic anhydride or with a group R<SP>5</SP>-CO-X, where X is C1, Br or I, in an inert organic solvent, in the presence of a tertiary amine. |
