<p>1535589 Four-sided tucking of packaging material FMC CORP 1 April 1976 [29 May 1975] 13217/76 Heading B8C In a method of packaging articles in which a plurality of spaced articles A are moved along a path about which a tube T of packaging material is formed, e.g. of heat sealable material, tucks are formed simultaneously in the four sides of the tube between adjacent articles. As shown, station TS includes rotary side tucker shoe assemblies 44 and 46 which form tucks in the side walls of the tube, and upper and lower rotary tucker assemblies 40 and 42 which form tucks in the upper and lower walls of the tube, all four tucker means operating simultaneously, and the upper and lower tucker shows being contoured to permit the presence of the side tucker shoes therebetween when the upper and lower shoes are in their closest relative positions (see Fig. 18, not shown). The tube at the region of the tucks may be heat sealed and severed to separate the packaged articles P at station SS which includes upper and lower rotary shafts 150, 152 which carry shoes 162, 170, respectively, each provided with heating means and the shoe 162 being provided with knife 164.</p> |
