The remote alternating current supply system for repeater stations in communication networks, is intended to protect service personnel from shock, as a result of any fault. The supply provides alternating current to groups of consuming instruments via supply cables from a common source. Any faulty connections between two supply cable cores triggers an alarm and, in the case of a short circuit, disconnects supply automatically, as in 2853425. A test signal is transmitted along the two supply cable cores and is then measured. The two cores are linked at the transmission end. One choke (21) coil (2a) in the supply line is provided with an additional winding (21d). Both the signal generator and the measuring instruments for the test signal are connected to the additional winding.
