<p>PURPOSE:To engrave patterns on a blank material accurately and with an arbitrary depth while scanning over the entire surface to be generaved without need for controlling in accordance with the patterns by a method wherein the mask provided with the patterns of an ink capable of shielding the laser beams is formed on the surface to be engraved and then the laser beams are scanned over the entire surface to be engraved. CONSTITUTION:The ink mask 1 is formed on the blank material to be engraved 2 by silk screen process or the like, in such a manner that the desired patterns, characters, etc. to be engraved are left as nonprinted parts of the ink which shields the laser beams. Then the laser beams are scanned over the entire surface, while regulating the output and the scanning speed, whereby the nonprinted parts are burned away in the desired depth to form an engraved surface. Generally, copper powder is mixed into the ink for shielding the laser beams. EFFECT:Designs of very minute lines can be engraved and discontinuous patterns can be provided freely.</p> |
