The invention relates to a centrifugal pump having, arranged on the suction side, a first normal-suction centrifugal pump stage, a pump intake port situated axially at the level of the horizontal shaft and at least one downstream self-priming centrifugal-pump stage operating with an auxiliary fluid. According to the invention, the self-primability and protection against drop in performance of the pump, especially for delivering media close to their boiling points, is improved by there being arranged, between two pump stages, a liquid reservoir chamber of sufficient magnitude, whose connection to the upstream centrifugal-pump stage is arranged in the geodetically upper part of the reservoir, there being arranged, between the liquid reservoir and the upstream centrifugal-pump stage, a seal for sealing the shaft gap.
