A method of making absorbable surgical threads consists in treating cellulose threads with nitrogen oxides, then treating these threads with a protophilic solvent for 1 to 2 hours at a room temperature and holding them at a temperature of 70 DEG to 90 DEG C. for 1 to 2 hours.
