Tetracyclic nitrogen-containing norbornane compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which A represents the radical -N=N-, n represents 0 and 1, R<1> represents hydrogen, an acyclic or cyclic alkyl or alkylcarbonyl radical or a trimethylsilyl radical or trifluoroacetyl radical, R<2> represents hydrogen, or R<2> together with R<1> represents a bond, R<3> and R<4> represent hydrogen or an alkoxycarbonyl radical, or R<3> and R<4> together represent a bond and R<5> represents hydrogen, halogen or halogenoalkyl, and compositions for regulating the growth of plants.
