In an electrical switch, which has a housing (11), a switching piece (18) which can move in a straight line in the switch housing (11), at least one flat contact spring (49) which is held on the switching piece, and at least one stationary contact (40) which is arranged adjacent to a broad side of the contact spring and is narrower than the contact spring (49), the object exists of increasing the service life, that is to say the number of switching processes which are possible using the switch, by reducing the wear on the contact spring (49). This is achieved in that the stationary contact (40), seen vertically with respect to the broadside of the contact spring (49), is arranged obliquely with respect to the movement direction of the contact spring (49), at least on a partial section (61) of the sliding movement of the contact spring (49). <IMAGE>
