The appliance for conveying and removing material is esp. used in conjunction with underground gallery driving or mining machines, with a conveying system behind a rotatable head with holes. A carrier unit (1), turning either way, bears one conveyor element (F1) inclined in the material direction of movement. A second element (F2) is inclined the opposite way. The first element extends to the inner edge (5) of the cylindrical chamber (R), forming a partition. Holes (6) for the material open into the chamber between the elements. The second element extends less far, and is bounded by an edge (7a) at a distance from the first and providing a passage (D) for the material.
