The present invention relates to a machine for cutting a plane surface in blocks of stone, especially in granite and for polishing this surface. This machine is characterised in that it comprises a circular tool-holding plate 12 rotatably mounted on a framework 8, an eccentric cutting disc 18 rotatably mounted on the plate 12, in front of the latter and parallel to the plate 12, so as to describe a circular orbit whose plane cuts the block of stone along the plane face 1a to be cut, means for rotatably driving the cutting disc 18 about its axis YY', and at least one eccentric polishing head 21 rotatably mounted on the plate 12, after the cutting disc 18 with respect to the rotational direction of the plate 12. <IMAGE>
