The invention relates to an evaporative contact body 12 of sheet type with slits situated between the sheets, at least some of the slits opening at a surface 18 of the contact body, which is watered. Through the same slits of the contact body, a gas such as air is introduced from the opposite direction, whereby the liquid is evaporated and the exchanger surfaces of the contact body are cooled. Supply means for the liquid are arranged above said surface, comprising a distributor block 30 provided above said surface 18, covering essentially the whole of said surface 18, and at least one distributor block 32 arranged further above and extending in a direction above and between two end faces of the first distributor block 30, and which is watered 34.
