In a coffin with a reinforcing framework made up of corner posts, the corner posts comprise boards (3, 4) which are arranged along the angle bisector of each corner, are fitted together and, being connectable between coffin and lid with groove (5) and tongue (6) or pegs, form in each case an angle support which is anchored on the base board and is laterally connected to the mitred coffin and coffin-lid side boards (1, 2). There is preferably provided a tongue (6) which projects in the form of a triangle from the approximately horizontal connecting surface of coffin and lid and engages into a corresponding triangular groove (5) of the other arm of the angle support. <IMAGE>
