Water heater with a combustion chamber, enclosed by a heating shaft and having a heat exchanger through which water flows, and a heating coil which cools this heating shaft, runs on the outside thereof and whose water throughput is supplied to the water to be heated in the heat exchanger, this water throughput being taken from the water to be heated in the heat exchanger (5) before its entry into the heat exchanger and, after running through the pipe coil (8), being returned to the water flowing to the heat exchanger. <IMAGE>
