A purifier has a housing holding a blower (9) to pass ambient air through, and a high-voltage generator. The air intake (72) has agrille with two net-shaped electrode plates (50,53) along its inner side and opposing each other with a large potential difference developed between then by the generator. The plates are at dift spacings from the grille and an air-premeable filter (70) of dielectric material is located between the plates. At least the grille and nearer plate are detachable from the housing, the grille pref. being secured to the housing solely by its resiliency. The filter pref. has a superposed deorant filter element contg., activated charcoal. The housing outlet pref. has an ionizer (10) with opposed ionizing needle and cournter electrodes which are adjustably spaced. |
