PURPOSE:To obtain an impression material composition having excellent compatibility with water, providing uniform paste in a short time, not causing scattering of powder in blending, containing a low-molecular weight alginate, a high- molecular weight alginate, calcium sulfate and/or lead silicate and a filler. CONSTITUTION:In an impression material composition consisting of (A) 5-25wt.% alginates, (B) 5-30wt.% calcium sulfate and/or lead silicate and (C) the rest of a filler, both a low-molecular weight alginate and a high- molecular weight alginate are used as the components A. Alginates having the constitution ratio M/G of D-mannuronic acid (M) and L-gluronic acid (G) of 0.3-1 (especially 0.5-1) in the molecule of alginates provide an impression material composition having excellent physical properties such as elastic strain, permanent strain and grinding drag. An impression material obtained from the composition is used for molding of tooth, casting of metal and plastic molding and a smooth gypsum mold having excellent adhesiveness to agar is obtained.
