PURPOSE:To obtain a pharmaceutical preparation for the remedy of myocardiopathy, especially for the remedy and prevention of secondary myocardiopathy (myocardiopathy caused by anthracycline-type antibiotic substance), by using an epoxysuccinic acid derivative as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective preparation contains an epoxysuccinic acid deriva tive of formula I (R is H, alkyl, aralkyl or aryl; n is 0-3) or its non-toxic salt as an active component. The preparation is administered to a patient together with a drug carrier in the form of a drug preparation composition such as injection, powder or capsule usually at a dose of about 1mg-1g per day. The compound of formula I can be synthesized e.g. according to the reac tion formula. A concrete example of the compound of formula I is (2R,3R)-3-[(S)-1-{4-( 4-methoxyphenylmethyl )piperazin-1-ylcarbonyl}-3-methylbutyl carbamoyl]oxirane-2-carboxylic acid.
