<p>An electromagnetic switchgear having movable contact members engagable with respective fixed contact members includes an elastic connection between a movable armature and a contact carrier. The elastic connection enables relative motion between the armature and the contact carrier so that the contact carrier may remain relatively stationary during continued motion of the armature.
