Attachment of motor vehicle window to frame - uses adhesive which also seals hollow section of frame

The window of a motor vehicle has a pane of glass (2) mounted in a frame (1). The frame is constructed from a hollow section formed from sheet metal with the flanges spot welded together. The glass pane is bonded to a flexible sealing strip pressed against the wall of the hollow section. The sealing strip is bonded to the hollow section by a bead of adhesive (9) which extends over both flanges (3, 4) of the hollow section. USE/ADVANTAGE - The bead of adhesive prevents the ingress of moisture into the hollow section and so prevents internal corrosion.
