PURPOSE:To prevent errorneous detection during fault detection by detecting disturbing components supersimposed on the output signal of an acceleration sensor when fault diagnosis pulse signals are inputted and further detecting the fault of the acceleration sensor based on the value that the disturbing components are counterbalanced from the output signals of the acceleration sensor. CONSTITUTION:In a step 140, a fault diagnosis pulse signal is inputted into one of two acceleration sensors, and the output value of the acceleration sensor to which the fault diagnosis pulse signal is inputted and the output value of the acceleration sensor to which no signal is inputted are read. In a step 170, the absolute value of a difference between the both is calculated to counterbalance a disturbing component supersimposed on the output signal having the inputted fault diagnosis pulse signal. In a step 180, since fault diagnosing is carried out based on the value that the disturbing component is counterbalanced, errorneous detection can be prevented.
