Blanking press has fixed press table (4) and blanking head (20) fixed to a press column (7) movable between a top and bottom dead point by means of an actuator (8) and having a switch-over device (31) for reversing the head stroke at the bottom dead point. The switch-over device (31) is a potentiometric displacement transducer (25) fixed between the press column (7) and frame (1), the output signal of which is used to control stroke reversal at the bottom dead point via a signal conditioning circuit.
