PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the transportation of a carbide by reducing its volume and weight and to make the carbide highly functional. SOLUTION: This carbide is produced by carbonizing an organic substance. The organic substance is heated to a temperature range of 300-700 deg.C and baked. The organic substance is heated to a temperature higher than 700 deg.C and rebaked. The organic substance is carbonized and shrunk by the baking in the temperature range of 300-700 deg.C to reduce its volume and weight. The carbide can be provided with characteristics high in electric resistivity, electromagnetic weave shielding performance, etc., by the rebaking higher than 700 deg.C.
