PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste plastic material vol. reducing apparatus which suppresses that odor of gas exhausted from the vol. reducing apparatus is spread to the surrounding and whose vol. reducing operation is simple and which is safe, hygienic and economical and small-sized and lightweight. SOLUTION: This waste plastic material vol. reducing apparatus is provided with an oxidizing part 14 which is provided on a vent path 12 and has oxidation catalyst for performing oxidation treatment of exhausted gas and wherein the first temp. sensor 9 for detecting temp. of circulating gas is provided in a hot air circulation path 11 and a catalyst heating part 16 for heating the exhaust gas and the second temp. sensor 17 for detecting temp. of the heated gas are provided in the oxidizing part 14 and in addition, a control part for controlling heating of a heating part 8 and the catalyst heating part 16 by detected signals from the first temp. sensor 9 and the second temp. sensor 17 is provided.
