Recovery system for abrasive media from water jet cutting machines

An arrangement for recovering an abrasive medium from water jet cutting machines has a separator to recover re-usable the abrasive medium from sludge and water, and a toothed belt conveyor (6,8) which transports the recovered abrasive medium in portions to a drying oven whilst separating it from residual water. The conveyor (6) carries the portions of recovered abrasive medium past a nozzle pipe connected to a compressed air generator, and a dispersal nozzle (13) on the nozzle pipe blows the portions into the oven. The oven, through which hot exhaust air flows and in which the air is further heated, consists of a riser duct (12) located above a heater (10) and closed by a sieve (11); a fluidised bed (16) connected to it; a hopper (17) under the fluidised bed having a pipe (18) to a collection vessel (19) for the dry, recovered and usable abrasive medium; and a suction connection (20). The suction connection (20) connects the oven to a blower (22)via an exhaust system (21) which filters the exhausted air.
