The present invention refers to an anode composition comprising as binding agent the sugar cane molasses instead of the conventional electrolytic p itch. The composition may optionally include additives based on lithium fluorine, aluminum , boron and sulfur, and is used in a process for the manufacture of anodes for the primary aluminum industry. The invention also refers to a process for the manufacture of said anode and the application thereof to the primary aluminum industry.
